Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ishii Holds Meeting with H.E. Dr. Manuel Tovar, Minister of Foreign Trade of the Republic of Costa Rica

On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Mr. Ishii Taku, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Manuel Tovar, Minister of Foreign Trade of the Republic of Costa Rica, and exchanged opinions on strengthening bilateral economic relations and enhancing the trade regime based on free and fair rules, among other items.

During the meeting, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ishii stated that Costa Rica is an important partner for Japan which shares their common basic values and that the momentum for strengthening economic relations is further growing including Japanese companies increasing investments or entry into Costa Rica’s market.
In response, H.E. Dr. Manuel Tovar explained that Japan is particularly important in both political and economic terms, and that Japanese companies that have entered the country are making a significant contribution to Costa Rica.
The two sides also affirmed the importance of collaboration in WTO reform and efforts at the OECD, where Costa Rica will chair the Ministerial Council next year.
