Minister Saito Receives a Courtesy Call by the Delegation Led by Senator William Hagerty, United States Senate

On Friday, August 30, 2024, Mr. Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, received a courtesy call by the delegation led by Senator William Hagerty, United States Senate. Through the discussion, they confirmed the importance of Japan-U.S. collaboration.
On Friday, August 30, Minister Saito received a courtesy call by the following seven U.S. senators: Senator William F. “Bill” Hagerty IV (Republican-Tennessee), Senator John Thune (Republican-South Dakota), Senator Chris Coons (Democrat-Delaware), Senator Gary C. Peters (Democrat-Michigan), Senator Daniel S. Sullivan (Republican-Alaska), Senator Eric Schmitt (Republican-Missouri), and Senator Katie Britt (Republican-Alabama).
In the meeting, Minister Saito mentioned strong bilateral economic relations through Japanese companies' direct investments and job creation in the United States. They exchanged views on topics such as importance of Japan-U.S. bilateral collaboration, including promotion and protection of critical and emerging technologies as well as that of economic cooperation between Japan, the U.S., and like-minded partners such as the Philippines and Republic of Korea.
