Launching of the Negotiations for Japan-United Arab Emirates (UAE) Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)

September 18, 2024

Joint press release with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Government of Japan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have decided to launch the negotiations for the Japan-UAE Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

The Government of Japan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have decided to launch the negotiations for the Japan-UAE Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

The Government of Japan hope that concluding an ambitious, balanced, and comprehensive EPA between Japan and the UAE, in addition to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Japan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) being negotiated in parallel, will contribute to strengthening bilateral economic relations, including the expansion of trade and investment and other areas.

Japan will coordinate with the UAE government to hold the first negotiation discussion at an appropriate time.
