Past consultations have been held in Japan and Germany, alternately, allowing the two sides to exchange frank views on trends in the economy, industrial policies, trade and investment promotion and other issues, from a wide variety of perspectives. Against this backdrop, on December 4, 2024, METI and BMWK held the 22nd Vice-Minister-Level Regular Consultation in Berlin, bringing together Mr. Matsuo Takehiko, Vice-Minister for International Affairs, METI, Mr. Udo Philipp, State Secretary, BMWK, and other officials.
