Second Japan-China Service Trade Policy Dialogue Held

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Department of Trade in Services and Commercial Services, Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), China, held the Second Japan-China Service Trade Policy Dialogue in Beijing, China.

At the dialogue, under the co-chairmanship of Mr. Ezawa Masana, Deputy Director-General, Commerce and Service Industry Policy Group, METI, and H.E. Ms. Hong Li, Deputy Director, -General, Department of Trade in Services and Commercial Services, MOFCOM, participants held discussions on their efforts for the development of services trade in Japan and China, including mutual exchange in the content field, as well as on concerns over the issue. The two countries will continue to closely communicate to develop a favorable environment for services trade and expand services trade.

In 2018, then-Minister Zhong Shan, MOFCOM, and then-Minister Seko, METI, concluded the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening the Cooperation in Services Trade. In response, in March 2022, the First Japan-China Service Trade Policy Dialogue was held online between Mr. Tanaka, then-Deputy Director-General, Commerce and Service Industry Policy Group, METI, and Mr. Wang, then-Vice Director, Department of Trade in Services and Commercial Services, MOFCOM.
