Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo Holds Meeting with Mr. Andrew Leung, President and the Delegation Members of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong

On Monday, December 23, Mr. Matsuo Takehiko, Vice-Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry held a meeting with Mr. Andrew Leung, President of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, and the delegation members of the Legislative Council, and exchanged opinions on economic relations between Japan and Hong Kong.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged opinions with a view to further promoting the expansion of bilateral trade and investment and human exchange.
The Japanese side explained that the safety of discharging ALPS treated water into the sea has been confirmed based on the results of monitoring and IAEA review to date and requested immediate repeal of import restrictions by the Hong Kong government on Japanese food products.
The Hong Kong side showed interest in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement.
