The Second Round of Japan-Republic of Korea Startup Policy Dialogue Held

On Monday January 13, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups of Republic of Korea (ROK) held the Japan-ROK Startup Policy Dialogue in Seoul, ROK, to deepen cooperation and exchange information between the two countries in the field of startup policy.
1. Japan-Republic of Korea Startup Policy Dialogue
METI and ROK.’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups had a frank exchange of views on startup policies, focusing on government initiatives to foster and support startups in both countries and recent developments in the startup ecosystem.
The second Japan-ROK Startup Policy Dialogue was held in Seoul on January 13, with the participation of Mr. Kikukawa Jingo, Director General for Innovation and Environment Policy Bureau of METI and Mr. Cho Kyoung Won, Director General for Startup Policy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups of ROK.
In this dialogue, the two sides shared information and exchanged opinions on overseas expansion of both countries’ startups as well as measures for enhancing attraction of foreign investors and entrepreneurs to Japan. They agreed to continue close collaboration in the future.


2. Opinion exchange with Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE).
On the same day, DG Kikukawa also met with Ms. Je Kyung-hee, Director General for Industrial Technology Convergence Policy, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) of ROK, to share information and exchange views on R&D systems and quantum policies of the two countries.
