Minister Muto Attends the Annual EU-Japan Business Roundtable

On Wednesday, November 12, Mr. Muto Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), attended the annual EU-Japan Business Roundtable, a meeting in which the industrial sectors of Japan and the EU propose policy recommendations to their respective governments.
This year's assembly was marked by significant participation of both Japan and EU government and private sector representatives. Among the attendees were distinguished figures such as Mr. Endo Nobuhiro, Executive Advisor to NEC Corporation (Chairman on the Japanese side) and Ms. Belén Garijo, CEO of Merck KGaA (Chairperson of the EU side). Minister Muto delivered a speech during the opening session and mentioned the importance of cooperation between Japan and the EU to promote innovation, energy security, strengthening the rules-based free trade order, and ensuring economic security. METI Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo Takehiko attended the thematic session, where he explained and then exchanged views on Japan-EU cooperation in the areas of economic security, digital, and energy, with the aim of enhancing industrial competitiveness.
