8th Japan-EU Digital Policy Dialogue Held

On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry held the 8th Japan-EU Digital Policy Dialogue with the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG Connect). Mr. Shibuya Toshihiko, Deputy Director-General for IT Strategy from the Japanese side, and Mr. Thomas Skordas, Deputy Director-General, DG Connect from the EU side co-chaired the dialogue.
At the 8th Japan-EU Digital Policy Dialogue, participants discussed policy trends and the future promotion of cooperation between Japan and the EU with regard to important matters in the digital fields experiencing rapid technological advancement, such as AI, semiconductors, quantum technology, online platforms, data, and cyber resilience. They agreed that the areas of Japan-EU cooperation will be eventually covered by the Japan-EU Digital Partnership.
Given the outcome of the meeting, both the Japanese side and the EU side confirmed that they would maintain close collaboration as leaders of our future digital society.
