Minister Muto Holds Meeting with H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Group CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Special Envoy to Japan

On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Mr. Muto Yoji, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Group CEO of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Special Envoy to Japan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Minister Muto welcomed the visit of Minister Jaber, who had attended the opening ceremony held for the UAE pavilion, Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. Minister Muto also expressed high appreciation for the progress of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai decarbonization support project, under which blue ammonia manufactured by ADNOC is adopted to generate power by using ammonia-fueled gas turbines developed by IHI. In return, Minister Jaber made congratulatory remarks on the opening of the world exposition.
Further, Minister Muto expressed Japan’s appreciation for the UAE’s stable supply of crude oil to Japan and the consideration given by the UAE for Japanese companies’ participation in crude oil upstream development projects and LNG projects. The two sides also discussed the stabilization of the international crude oil market. Moreover, they talked about bilateral cooperation in the energy field as well as the deepening and enhancement of cooperative relations between the two countries across a range of fields, including decarbonization, startups, and advanced technologies such as those for space industry. Also, for the Japan-UAE Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) now under negotiation, the two sides welcomed the progress of discussions made through the past two negotiation meetings and agreed to continue close bilateral cooperation.
