METI Signs Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on the Promotion of Bilateral Cooperation Projects for Energy Transitions

On Monday, April 28, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on the promotion of bilateral cooperation projects for energy transitions. Mr. MUTO Yoji, Minister of METI and H.E. Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam announced the signing of the memorandum in the presence of Prime Minister Ishiba and H.E. Mr. PHAM Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Viet Nam.
On Monday, April 28, METI and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam signed an MOC on the promotion of bilateral cooperation projects for energy transitions. Both sides signed the MOC, reaffirming the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) principles, namely, pursuing a common goal of net-zero/carbon-neutrality through various pathways in line with national circumstances and addressing economic growth, energy security and decarbonization simultaneously.
Based on this MOC, Japan and Viet Nam will proceed with discussions, aiming to promote implementation of the projects for decarbonization of industrial zones, offshore wind power, power grid development, and other efforts.
