Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo Visits the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire

On Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Mr. Matsuo Takehiko, Vice-Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), visited Abidjan, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, and attended the Africa CEO Forum. He also held separate meetings with Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Mr. Zuko Godlimpi, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition of the Republic of South Africa.
At the Africa CEO Forum, Mr. Matsuo, METI’s Vice-Minister for International Affairs, announced the commencement of Japan Africa Co-Creation for Industry (JACCI), which was first presented at the 3rd Japan-Africa Public-Private Economic Forum held in December 2024 in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, setting forth METI’s intention to collaborate with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in supporting the startup field.

During the period of the Africa CEO Forum, Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo held separate meetings with Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Mr. Zuko Godlimpi, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition of the Republic of South Africa, and exchanged views on bilateral economic cooperation and the improvement of the business environment in their countries.

Furthermore, with Mr. N'Guessan Koffi, Minister of Technical Education, Professional Training, and Apprenticeship of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Mr. Matsuo visited a startup incubation facility jointly operated by METI and the UNDP to hear local startups present their businesses.
