State Minister Koga Attends a Signing Ceremony for MOUs for Collaboration Between Companies and a Launching Ceremony for a Focus Group for Public-Private Collaboration in the Energy Sector Including Wind Power and Hydrogen

On Tuesday, June 10, Mr. Koga Yuichiro, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, witnessed a signing ceremony for memoranda of understanding (MOUs) for collaboration between private companies in the wind power and electrification fields. Moreover, with the aim of promoting such business collaboration, and discussing and working together on the establishment of the supply chain and other relevant challenges, the METI and GE Vernova launched a focus group for public-private collaboration.
1. Collaboration between companies in wind power and electrification
In the presence of State Minister Koga as a witness:
- GE Vernova and Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation signed an MOU to adopt renewable energy and integrally establish a data center in northern Hokkaido. The initiative can become a model case for Green Transformation (GX) industrial location.
- GE Vernova and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation signed an MOU to strengthen collaboration in semiconductors for advanced electrification solutions that are critical to the popularization of a decarbonized power supply.
2. Launching of a focus group for public-private collaboration (focus group)
The METI and GE Vernova launched a focus group to continuously discuss and work together on the establishment of the supply chain, energy security, innovation and other major challenges. The focus group will address key themes, including wind power; innovation in gas turbines utilizing hydrogen, ammonia, and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS); and new opportunities in electrification and nuclear energy.
