State Minister Ogushi Holds Meeting with H.E. Mr. Romeu Zema Neto, Governor of the State of Minas Gerais, Republic of Brazil

On Friday, June 20, Mr. Ogushi Masaki, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Romeu Zema Neto, Governor of the State of Minas Gerais, the Federative Republic of Brazil. They exchanged views on various topics including the activities of Japanese companies operating in the state.

State Minister Ogushi expressed that Brazil, which holds one of the world’s largest Japanese communities, is an important partner that shares fundamental values with Japan. Mr. Ogushi also expressed his pleasure at growing momentum for strengthening economic relations between Japan and Minas Gerais, highlighting cooperative projects and the presence of Japanese companies.

Governor of the State of Minas Gerais Zema expressed his interest in strengthening collaboration between Minas Gerais and Japan particularly in the fields of energy transition, mineral resource development, and decarbonization. He also expressed his expectations for the success of the project involving electric buses equipped with next-generation lithium-ion batteries, which is currently implementing demonstration trials by Japanese companies in the state.
