Signing Ceremony Held for an MOU for Collaboration Between Companies and a Launching Ceremony for a Framework for Public-Private Collaboration Between METI and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy in the Offshore Wind Power Sector

On June 24, 2025, Mr. Matsuo Takehiko, Vice-Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), witnessed a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for collaboration between Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (Siemens Gamesa) and TDK Corporation in the supply of wind turbine magnets. Moreover, with the aims of promoting such collaboration between companies in the offshore wind power sector and discussing and collaborating on the establishment of a resilient supply chain and other relevant challenges, METI and Siemens Gamesa launched a framework for public-private collaboration.
1. Collaboration between Siemens Gamesa and TDK Corporation
In the presence of Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo as a witness, Siemens Gamesa and TDK Corporation signed an MOU on further collaboration in supplying magnets, which are important in terms of energy security in wind turbine manufacturing.
2. Launching a framework for public-private collaboration (study group)
METI and Siemens Gamesa launched a collaboration framework for continuous discussion and collaboration on the establishment of a wind turbine supply chain with a view not only to supplying the Japanese market but also overseas markets. The study group will address key themes, including entry of Japanese companies into the wind turbine supply chain, and market development and establishment of the investment environment in Japan.
