Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo Holds Meeting with the Hon. Roger Cook MLA, Premier of Western Australia

On Monday, July 7, Mr. MATSUO Takehiko, Vice-Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with the Hon. Roger Cook MLA, Premier of Western Australia, to exchange views on cooperation between Japan and Western Australia in the fields of resources, energy, and decarbonization.
During the meeting, Mr. Matsuo, Vice-Minister for International Affairs, and the Hon. Roger Cook, Premier of Western Australia, acknowledged the important role that Western Australian gas will play in Japan’s clean energy transition. Additionally, Premier Cook reiterated his commitment to supporting a continued stable supply of LNG to Japan.
Both sides also reaffirmed the importance of continuing to strengthen Japan-Western Australia relations by exchanging views on cooperation in areas such as critical minerals, hydrogen, ammonia, Carbon dioxide Capture and Storage (CCS), and Carbon dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), as well as joint research on advanced manufacturing of clean energy technologies and enhancement of industry partnerships.
