State Minister Ogushi Holds Meeting with H.E. Mr. Johannes Kelner, Vice Minister of Free Trade Zones and Special Regimes for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs of the Dominican Republic

On Monday, September 1, Mr. Ogushi Masaki, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.E. >Mr. Johannes Marinus Kelner De Benito, Vice Minister of Free Trade Zones and Special Regimes for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs of the Dominican Republic. Both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral economic relations and the presence of Japanese companies operating in the Dominican Republic.

State Minister Ogushi stated that Japan and the Dominican Republic are important partners who share fundamental values such as freedoms, human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. He also expressed the presure that bilateral relations have built closer through the investment seminar and the Dominican Republic’s National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai held during the visit to Japan of H.E. Mr. José Ignacio Paliza, Minister of the Presidency of the Dominican Republic last week.

H.E. Mr. Johannes Kelner, Vice Minister of Free Trade Zones and Special Regimes for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, emphasized the contributions made by Japanese companies operating in the Dominican Republic to its economy and the attractiveness of the Dominican Republic’s investment environment. He expressed his expectation for building bilateral cooperative relations in various industrial areas where Japanese companies have strengths.
