Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kato Holds Meeting with H.E. Ms. Diana Marcela Morales Rojas, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism of the Republic of Colombia

On Wednesday, September 3, Mr. Kato Akiyoshi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.E. Ms. Diana Marcela Morales Rojas, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism of the Republic of Colombia. They exchanged views on various topics including initiatives by Japanese companies and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and ways to further strengthen bilateral economic relations.

Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kato expressed his appreciation for the participation of the Republic of Colombia in Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and welcomed the intensifying exchanges and cooperation at various levels between Japan and Colombia. He also explained the contributions of Japanese companies to Colombia and the support provided by METI to highlight the importance of communication regarding achievements and challenges involved in the cooperation. He then expressed hope regarding holding the next Joint Committee between Japan and the Republic of Colombia on Cooperation in Trade, Investment, and Industry.

In response, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism of the Republic of Colombia Morales highlighted the importance of bilateral economic relations. She also expressed hope for the efforts to expand trade and promote investment between the two countries and for the greater access of Colombia’s diverse range of products into the Japanese market.
