Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kato Attends the Kingdom of Belgium’s National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

On Sunday, September 14, Mr. Kato Akiyoshi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the Kingdom of Belgium’s national day event held at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. He also held a meeting with H.E. Mr. David Clarinval, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy and Agriculture of Belgium.

1. Participation in Belgium’s national day event

Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kato attended Belgium’s national day event held at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. During the ceremony, he appeared on stage with H.E. Mr. David Clarinval, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy and Agriculture of Belgium and delivered a speech as a representative of the Government of Japan. In his remarks, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kato expressed his hope that the Expo would serve as an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations between Japan and Belgium. At the luncheon following the ceremony, the two officials engaged in a meaningful exchange of views on ways to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.

2. Meeting with H.E. Mr. David Clarinval, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Economy and Agriculture

Prior to the ceremony, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kato held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Clarinval. During the meeting, they exchanged views on the future direction of bilateral economic relations, taking into account cooperation between Japan and the EU, as well as bilateral cooperation in the sectors of semiconductors and energy. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening economic relations between Japan and Belgium.
