Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo Attends Thailand-Japan Investment Forum

Today, Mr. Matsuo Takehiko, Vice-Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the Thailand-Japan Investment Forum in Tokyo and held a meeting with Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI). They exchanged views on cooperation in the automotive and other industries toward strengthening bilateral economic relations.

1. Attendance at Thailand-Japan Investment Forum

Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo attended the Thailand-Japan Investment Forum together with Mr. Narit, Secretary General of the BOI, and delivered welcoming remarks stating that new technologies and markets enabled through green transformation (GX) and digital transformation (DX) will create new business opportunities. He spoke about enhancing the resilience and sophistication of the automotive and other supply chains that have been collectively built by the two countries.

He also showcased experiences of Japanese companies in the healthcare industry in Thailand as a new area of focus and expressed his hope for creating new businesses across a wide range of fields, including agricultural DX and semiconductors.

2. Meeting with BOI Secretary General Narit

Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo held a meeting with Mr. Narit, Secretary General of the BOI, who is responsible for Thailand’s investment promotion policies. Both sides exchanged views on collaboration on automotive supply chains and other aspects of industrial cooperation. They also discussed the outcome of the First Energy and Industry Dialogue, a ministerial meeting held in Bangkok in late April this year, as well as future directions of the Dialogue.
