Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Akazawa Holds Online Meeting with Executive Vice-President Séjourné of the European Commission

On Friday, December 19, Mr. Akazawa Ryosei, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held an online meeting with Mr. Stéphane Séjourné, Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy of the European Commission. As partners that share fundamental values such as free trade and a rules-based international economic order, both sides confirmed their intention to promote cooperation in a wide range of areas under the Japan-EU Competitiveness Alliance launched at the 30th Japan-EU Summit.

Meeting between Minister Akazawa and Executive Vice-President Séjourné

On Friday, December 19, Minister Akazawa held an online meeting with Executive Vice-President Séjourné of the European Commission. As partners that share fundamental values such as free trade and a rules-based international economic order, both sides confirmed their intention to promote cooperation in wide-ranging areas. At the meeting, both sides explained that they would further strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas, including enhancing supply chain resilience of critical minerals, based on the Japan-EU Competitiveness Alliance launched at the 30th Japan-EU Summit. Moreover, they shared the importance of strengthening collaboration among like-minded countries, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
