Consultation Committee on the Japan-U.S. Strategic Investment Initiative

Joint news release with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance
On Friday, January 9, for 60 minutes from 10:30 p.m., a Consultation Committee meeting based on the Japan-U.S. Strategic Investment Initiative was held online.
Mr. Akazawa Ryosei, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Mr. Howard W. Lutnick, Secretary of Commerce of the United States of America, and Mr. Chris Wright, Secretary of Energy of the United States of America, attended the meeting, along with the following parties: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Ministry of Finance, METI, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) from Japan, and the Department of Commerce and the Department of Energy from the United States of America.
The participating ministers confirmed progress in preparations towards announcing the first project of the Investment Initiative and agreed to further accelerate coordination.
They have also agreed to work to coordinate the next meeting within the month of January.
