Minister Akazawa Attends G7 Energy Ministers’ Meeting

On Tuesday, March 10, Mr. Akazawa Ryosei, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended a meeting of energy ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) countries.
On Tuesday, March 10, the G7 energy ministers held an online meeting under the French presidency, with Minister Akazawa representing Japan. In addition to the G7 energy ministers, Mr. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), attended the meeting.
The ministers discussed the energy outlooks of their respective nations and the considered necessary responses given the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
The G7 energy ministers also compiled a joint statement as the meeting’s outcome, confirming that the G7 will closely monitor energy market trends and strengthen international coordination.
