Vice-Minister for International Affairs Matsuo Holds Meeting with H.E. Ms. Helene Budliger Artieda, State Secretary and Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Switzerland

On Thursday, March 12, Mr. Matsuo Takehiko, Vice-Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), held a meeting with H.E. Ms. Helene Budliger Artieda, State Secretary and Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), the Swiss Confederation. Both sides affirmed continued collaboration towards deepening bilateral economic relations. In the meeting, they also signed a joint statement between METI, SECO, and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) of Switzerland. The joint statement will serve as a guide for Japan-Switzerland cooperation going forward.

In the meeting, both sides affirmed the importance of collaboration among like-minded countries in economic security and exchanged views on the potential for cooperation in space, AI, quantum technologies, and other areas. Prior to the meeting, they signed a joint statement that will serve as a guide for future cooperation between METI, SECO, and SERI. They shared the view to promote the exchange of information on policies and other topics of the two countries and collaboration between businesses, start-ups, and research institutions.
