State Minister YAMADA and Chairs of Keidanren Discuss the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)
April 24, 2026
On Friday, April 24, Mr. YAMADA Kenji, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, received a courtesy call from Mr. KURAISHI Seiji (Advisor, Honda Motor Co., Ltd.) and Mr. SHIBATA Koji (Representative Director, President and CEO, ANA HOLDINGS INC.), both Chairs of the Japan-Mexico Economic Committee of Keidanren (Japan Business Federation). They exchanged views on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
During the courtesy call, Chairs KURAISHI and SHIBATA handed to State Minister YAMADA the Position on the United-States-Mexico-Canada Agreement Review, a document compiled by Keidanren, and provided an explanation of its content.
Regarding this document, in light of the fact that many Japanese companies are making use of the USMCA, the two sides affirmed that the Government of Japan would continue to pay close attention to the review process of the USMCA, and that they would continue close public-private collaboration to ensure the greatest possible predictability of investment.
