On Tuesday, April 28, Mr. AKAZAWA Ryosei, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with Senator the Hon. Penny Wong, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Australia. They exchanged views on various topics including resources and energy, economic security, trade policy, and bilateral cooperation going forward.

During the meeting, they affirmed their commitment to further strengthening relations between Japan and Australia as Special Strategic Partners, as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation between Japan and Australia.

The two ministers also had a broad exchange of views on resources and energy, economic security, and bilateral cooperation going forward. They agreed to continue the close collaboration between Japan and Australia.
