Minister Akazawa Holds Online Meeting with H.R.H. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

During the meeting, Minister Akazawa conveyed a proposal based on a personal letter from Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae to H.R.H. Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was delivered to H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Monday, May 4. The two ministers agreed to establish a joint task force on the same day as the meeting to consider all possible options on a bilateral basis, including Japan’s proposal.

They also issued a joint statement including agreements on the establishment of the joint task force and cooperation in areas such as energy supply chains, energy infrastructure, strategic stockpiling, and investment.
