Parliamentary Vice-Minister Komori Participates in Overseas Startup TSE Listing Workshop 2026

June 25, 2026

On June 25, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), with the cooperation of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), held the Overseas Startup TSE Listing Workshop 2026 to promote understanding among overseas startups of market entry into Japan and listing on TSE. Mr. KOMORI Takuo, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, delivered the opening remarks.

1. Background to the Overseas Startup TSE Listing Workshop 2026

Japan aims to become the largest startup hub in Asia and one of the world’s leading centers for startups. To achieve this, it must promote collaboration between overseas startups and Japanese companies and deepen connections between startup ecosystems in Japan and abroad. The TSE supports promising overseas startups in expanding their businesses into Japan and listing on the exchange. METI’s cooperation with the TSE in promoting this initiative represents an effective step toward further strengthening international collaboration and building a globally competitive startup ecosystem.

Against this backdrop, in April 2026, the TSE published BEYOND BORDERS, a listing handbook for overseas startups aimed at providing comprehensive support for foreign companies from market entry into Japan to listing on the exchange. Based on the publication of this handbook, METI and the TSE jointly held the Overseas Startup TSE Listing Workshop 2026, inviting entrepreneurs and stakeholders from companies that were founded overseas and successfully listed on the TSE to facilitate discussions and information exchange on the decision-making process leading to listing, key practical considerations, and the significance of the Japanese market, drawing on concrete case studies. At the opening of the workshop, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Komori delivered the opening remarks, addressing the policy significance and importance of this initiative.
