Visit to France
Minister Seko: I have an announcement to begin with. From Today to the 14th of June, I am going to visit Paris to attend the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). As a matter of fact, I am just about to leave for Haneda Airport.
As for this General Assembly, it is very important and substantially the last opportunity for us to make a presentation to the member states before the November vote for the 2025 Expo site. It is the opportunity for the three candidate countries including ourselves to make a presentation in turn.
I would like to proactively communicate our clear vision of the Expo toward countries all around the world.
G7 Summit Meeting
Q: As for the results of the G7 summit meeting held in Canada, do you have any comments on this? Also could you tell us about your thoughts on future trade policies in general, in accordance with the results?
A: At the G7 summit meeting, I heard that quite open and forthright discussions on trade issues were conducted, and led to a consensus that members should make efforts to develop free, fair and rule-based trade systems and determinedly counter market-distortive trade activities or investment practices.
I believe that Japan, as a forefront of the free trade, should continuously provide leadership in order to spread free, fair and rule-based market worldwide.
