Inspection Misconduct by Nissan
Q: Nissan announced yesterday that it had falsified data regarding the inspection of exhaust gas and fuel consumption. As there has been a series of cases of misconduct at Nissan, what are your thoughts on these developments?
A: As for Nissan’s deviation from the inspection method for fuel consumption and exhaust gas, or falsification of that data, the matter is directly related to safety regulations, so we recognize that the matter is fully under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
However, I would like Nissan to make every effort not to spread further anxiety or confusion among its users.
US-China Trade Conflicts
Q: It is reported that Japanese companies are also being hit by the US sanctions against China, and damages amounting to at least 75.7 billion yen per year are projected for those Japanese companies out of their total exports to the US. What are your thoughts on these impacts on Japanese companies?
A: As specific impacts on Japanese companies are not yet clear, I would like to continue to pay close attention to any developments.
