Question-and-Answer Session
Nissan’s Extraordinary Shareholders Meeting
Q: Former Chairman Ghosn was removed from the Board of Directors at Nissan's extraordinary shareholders meeting yesterday. At the meeting, there seemed to be harsh calls for the resignation of the management team. Would you tell us your views on the responsibilities of the current management team?
A: As this is a specific personnel issue, I, as a member of the Japanese government, would like to refrain from making comments on it.
At any rate, discussions are currently being held within the company, with the participation of external parties, to consider fundamental improvements in its corporate governance. I strongly hope that Nissan will make the necessary efforts needed in order to realize the recommendations of the external committee.
Q: As for President and CEO Saikawa’s stay in his position, any comment on this?
A: I would like to refrain from making comments on the personnel matters of private companies. Mr. Saikawa discussed this issue yesterday.
