Question-and-Answer Session
Vision for Growth of Mid-sized Enterprises
Q: At a meeting yesterday, the policy for formulating the vision for the growth of mid-sized enterprises was discussed. Please tell me about your expectations for mid-sized enterprises, the purpose of formulating the vision, and your resolve toward formulating it.
A: Yesterday, a meeting of the working group on the promotion of growth of mid-sized enterprises was held at the Prime Minister’s Office, and I understand that it was decided that the “vision for growth of mid-sized enterprises,” which will stipulate the expected roles of mid-sized enterprises, the challenges for their growth, and the matters that the public and private sectors should address in order to resolve those challenges, would be formulated by the end of the current fiscal year.
I recognize mid-sized enterprises, some of which I have observed, as an important group of enterprises that perform their roles as leaders of domestic investments and providers of high quality local jobs, so various measures to aid them in succeeding are planned to be implemented under the Act on Strengthening Industrial Competitiveness, which has recently been enacted.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, in cooperation with relevant ministries and agencies, will strongly support the growth of mid-sized enterprises by making efforts, including contributing to the formulation of a draft vision, to further enhance support measures and develop a network of supporting organizations.
