  of “Exports”.
  Some commercially-available
  products can also be used for
  military purposes and therefore
  require export licenses based on the
  Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade
  Act (FEFTA).

   ※If an individual is caught conducting an illegal export,
    such as exporting controlled goods without an export
    license, both criminal and/or administrative penalties will
    be imposed.
 
   Criminal Penalty: No more than ten years of imprisonment
           and/or a fine of no more than thirty
           million yen, or no more than five times  
           the value of the exported items  
   Administrative Penalty: Prohibition of future exports for no
               more than three years

    Example

    For example, when exporting goods such as drones,
    thermographic cameras and rifle scopes etc.,
    individuals must pay attention to their export
    procedures.

Export control regulation in Japan

 Based on the FEFTA, exporters including individuals
 need an export license if exporting controlled items.
 Controlled items are specified in the Appended Table
 1 of the Export Trade Control Order.
Controlled items listed in the Appended Table 1 of the

Export Trade Control Order.

  -Weapons

  -High specification commodity goods which can potentially be used for WMDs

  (weapons of mass destruction) and conventional weapons or part of them.

  -High specification commodity goods which can potentially be used for the
  development, etc., of WMDs and conventional weapons.
