Recycling Policy
October is '3R Month' in Japan
To create a sustainable society based on the 3Rs, the central government, local governments, business sector and citizens must work together. They must reduce, reuse and recycle. To promote understanding and cooperation in these efforts, METI and seven other government agencies in Japan have designated every October as "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Month" (abbreviated as "3R Month"), and are conducting a broad range of awareness-raising activities.

Eight agencies are involved: Cabinet Office; Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology; Ministry of the Environment; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
