Side Event of the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Sakai-Osaka: “Invest in Osaka” (Promoting Foreign Direct Investment from Overseas into Osaka) was held on October 28, 2023.

The G7 Trade Ministers' Meeting in Sakai-Osaka (held on October 28 & 29, 2023) presented a great opportunity to showcase the attractiveness of Osaka. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (hereinafter: “METI”) held this meeting entitled “Invest in Osaka” (Promoting Foreign Direct Investment from Overseas into Osaka), which was co-hosted by the Osaka Business and Investment Center (hereinafter: “O-BIC”).

This meeting introduced Osaka’s features and potential advantages as an investment destination to the Distinguished Members of G7 Chambers of Commerce (*1), while opinions were exchanged with regard to future measures for investment promotion from overseas into Osaka.

After the meeting, the G7 Chambers’ members visited the booths of enterprises in the Kansai region and the 2025 World Exposition (hereinafter: “Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai”) in the exhibition hall and heard explanations of advanced initiatives from such enterprises and representatives of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

METI aims to continue to deepen our cooperation with each country and accelerate efforts in expanding foreign investment in Japan, including Osaka.
