Call for Attention: Strengthening Cybersecurity Measures

Joint press release with the Financial Services Agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the National Police Agency, the Cabinet Secretariat Cabinet Cyber Security Center
Today, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer announced that it had encountered a cyber incident. Given the recent situation, the risks of cyber-attack are increasing. Therefore, seven Japanese ministries and agencies call for added attention in strengthening cyber security measures at this time.
1. Overview
Given the recent situation, the potential risks of cyber-attack are likely to increase. Today, a domestic automobile parts manufacturer announced that it had encountered a cyber incident.Each company / organization, including government agencies and critical infrastructure operators, are requested to deepen their awareness of the threat of cyber-attacks and to take the measures listed in the attachment to strengthen the measures under the leadership of management.
In addition, please examine the entire supply chain, including SMEs and business partners, and implement appropriate security measures so that you can control the risks.
Also, overseas branches may serve as a foothold for cyber-attacks on critical systems in Japan, so please implement security measures with specific support and instructions in the same way as systems in Japan.
Please promptly contact the relevant ministries and agencies, security-related organizations, or the police for early response when a suspicious activity is detected, even if no damage such as information leakage has actually occurred.
