Cabinet Decision Made on the Cabinet Order to Partially Revise the Cabinet Orders for the Partial Revision of the Order for Enforcement of the Measurement Act and of the Order for Fees Concerning the Measurement Act

1. Outline of the Cabinet Order revisions
(1) Postponing the start date for restrictions on the use of three types of automatic scales
The three types of automatic scales concerned are hopper scales, automatic filling scales, and conveyor scales (hereinafter the "three types of automatic scales"). Given the current situation where restrictions on their use should not start soon, the start date has been postponed for five years.
(2) Revising special provisions regarding verification fees for the three types of automatic scales
In line with the five-year postponement of the start date for restrictions on the use of the three types of automatic scales, the applicable period for the special provisions regarding the fees stipulated in Article 2 of the Supplementary Provisions of the Order for the Partial Revision of the Order for Fees Concerning the Measurement Act (Cabinet Order No. 140 of 2020) has been extended to April 1, 2028, to match the new start date for the aforementioned restrictions.
(3) Revising special provisions regarding verification fees for automatic weight-checkers
In line with the two-year postponement of the start date for restrictions on the use of automatic weight-checkers stipulated in the Order for the Partial Revision of the Order for Enforcement of the Measurement Act (Cabinet Order No. 215 of 2021), the applicable period for the special provisions regarding the fees stipulated in Item 2 of the Supplementary Provisions of the Order for the Partial Revision of the Order for Fees Concerning the Measurement Act (Cabinet Order No. 60 of 2019) has been extended to April 1, 2024, to match the new start date for the aforementioned restrictions.
