FY2021 Award Ceremony to Be Held at Kyoto Prefectural Kyoto Stadium (Sanga Stadium by Kyocera) for the Winning Stadiums and Arenas Selected as Exchange Bases Bringing Together Different Generations

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is working on renovating stadiums and arenas jointly with the Japan Sports Agency, and plans to select 20 by 2025 as model facilities at the core of urban development and regional revitalization. On September 26, METI will hold an award ceremony for the 3 winners selected in the second call for applicants. The 3 selected organizations will be presented with award certificates and commemorative trophies.
A call for applicants is being held this year as well. The application period is from September 20 (Tue.) to 17:00 on November 8 (Tue.), 2022.

1. Purpose

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is pushing to renovate stadiums and arenas jointly with the Japan Sports Agency, and plans to select 20 by 2025 as model facilities at the core of urban development and regional revitalization.
This year, an award ceremony will be held in person for the 3 winners that were selected in FY2021 as exchange bases bringing together different generations.
Those scheduled to attend the award ceremony include around 80 people from the bases selected in FY2020 and FY2021 and from stadiums and arenas that METI intends to renovate in the future. Mr. Mogi Tadashi (METI Director-General for Commerce and Service Industry Policy), Mr. MIROFUSHI Koji (the Japan Sports Agency's Commissioner), and Mr. NISHIWAKI Takatoshi (Governor of Kyoto Prefecture) are also scheduled to attend. A tour of Kyoto Stadium—one of the selected bases—will also be given.

4. Schedule for the FY2022 call for applicants

We will hold a call for applicants for FY2022. The application period is scheduled as follows.
September 20 (Tue.) - 17:00 on November 8 (Tue.), 2022

The selected facilities will be provided with focused support, including information from METI and the Japan Sports Agency.
