Launching of the Joint Study Group on the possibility of a Japan-Bangladesh Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)

The Government of Japan and the Government of Bangladesh jointly decided to launch the Joint Study Group on the possibility of a Japan-Bangladesh Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Economic relations in particular have developed significantly in recent years, with the number of Japanese companies that have expanded into Bangladesh increasing more than threefold in the past ten years.
In light of this development, the Government of Japan and the Government of Bangladesh jointly decided to launch the Joint Study Group on the Possibility of a Japan-Bangladesh Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
Japan will coordinate with Bangladesh to hold the first meeting of the Joint Study Group in due course.
The Joint Study Group is formed for the purpose of facilitating discussions between industry, government, and academia of partner countries on topics and matters of interest regarding the possibility of an Economic Partnership Agreement.
