IPEF Supply Chain Agreement to Enter into Force

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) hereby announces that the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework Agreement for Prosperity Relating to Supply Chain Resilience (IPEF Supply Chain Agreement) is expected to enter into force on February 24 (Sat.), 2024, at US local time.
In November 2023, IPEF partner countries signed the IPEF Supply Chain Agreement at the IPEF ministerial meeting held in San Francisco, the United States. Concerning this agreement, Japan, the U.S., Singapore, Fiji, and India have completed domestic processes and made a notification to the Depositary, the U.S.
In response, the IPEF Supply Chain Agreement is expected to enter into force on February 24 (Sat.), 2024, at US local time. Japan will continue to advance its efforts to implement the agreement, working with other IPEF partner countries.
1. This Agreement shall be open for signature by Australia, Brunei Darussalam, the Republic of Fiji, the Republic of India, the Republic of Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, the United States of America, and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

3. This Agreement shall enter into force 30 days after the date on which at least five of the States listed in paragraph 1 have deposited an instrument of ratification, acceptance, or approval with the Depositary.
