Cabinet Decision Made on the Cabinet Order to Partially Revise the Order for Enforcement of the Electricity Business Act
September 16, 2025
Today, a cabinet decision was made on the Cabinet Order to Partially Revise the Order for Enforcement of the Electricity Business Act. This revision adds facilities installed on ships for transfer of defense equipment to the list of facilities excluded from the definition of electric facilities under the Electricity Business Act.
1. Outline of the Cabinet Order revision
Pursuant to the Act Partially Amending the Act for Establishment of the Ministry of Defense and Related Acts (Act No. 44 of 2025), enacted during the 213th session of the National Diet, “ships for transfer of defense equipment” newly defined under the Self-Defense Forces Act, are now excluded from the application of the Ship Safety Act and related Acts, and safety measures for these ships will instead be governed under the Self-Defense Forces Act. Accordingly, this revision adds facilities installed on ships for transfer of defense equipment to the list of facilities excluded from the definition of electric facilities under the Electricity Business Act.
2. Future schedule
Coming into effect on October 1, 2025
