18th ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Policy Meeting Held

Joint press release with the National Cybersecurity Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication
The 18th ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Policy Meeting (hereinafter “Policy Meeting”) was held in Tokyo over two days from Wednesday, October 8, to Thursday, October 9, 2025.
The Policy Meeting has been held generally once a year since 2009, with the purpose of enhancing international collaboration and initiatives on cybersecurity among the ASEAN member states (hereafter “AMS”) and Japan.
In this year’s Policy Meeting, AMS and Japan exchanged information on the direction of initiatives related to the cybersecurity policies of each country, reviewed the outcomes of collaborative activities undertaken by AMS and Japan, and discussed future approaches to further collaborative activities.

2. Main achievements
The future policy directions of AMS, the ASEAN Secretariat, and Japanese ministries responsible for promoting cybersecurity policy were shared. In addition, the outcomes of the following collaborative activities agreed upon at last year’s Policy Meeting were reviewed, and the further promotion of collaborative activities was confirmed. Furthermore, agreement was reached to further strengthen collaboration between ASEAN and Japan, including public-private partnerships.
