Japan’s Official Participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh Endorsed by the Cabinet

On December 16, 2025, the Cabinet endorsed Japan’s official participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh, scheduled to be held in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
1. Cabinet Endorsement
A Cabinet meeting today endorsed Japan’s official participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh, with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) designated as a participating organization. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will serve as the lead ministry, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) as the deputy lead ministries.
2. Overview of Expo 2030 Riyadh
- Venue: Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Dates: October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031
- Theme: Foresight for Tomorrow
- Type: International Registered exhibition (a large-scale exhibition held every five years) under the Convention Relating to International Exhibitions
3. Significance of Japan’s Participation
- Participating in this Expo, which will attract visitors from around the world, will provide an excellent opportunity to enhance the international community’s understanding of Japan.
- Japan’s proactive contribution to the success of this Expo will fulfill its responsibility within the international community, including carrying forward the achievements of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, held this year in Yumeshima, Osaka.
- This Expo will be an opportunity for Japan to showcase its appeal globally and to promote trade and investment with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries worldwide, as well as to contribute to advancing cooperation among related industries.
