Japan Partnership for Circular Economy (J4CE) Held the 21st Public-Private Dialogue/Networking Session

On Friday, February 27, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of the Environment, and the Japan Business Federation (hereinafter referred to as “Keidanren”) jointly held the Japan Partnership for Circular Economy (hereinafter referred to as “J4CE”) 21st Public-Private Dialogue/Networking Session.
The 21st Public-Private Dialogue/Networking Session was attended by Mr. Tsuji Kiyoto, State Minister of the Environment, Mr. Komori Takuto, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ms. Noda Yumiko, Vice Chair and Chair of the Committee on Environment, Keidanren, who provided a summary of the activities to date of J4CE, which is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its founding, and announced its future plans.
J4CE will continue to accelerate efforts by companies to incorporate resource circulation into their business strategies, while also promoting circular economy technologies and communicating initiatives of Japanese companies to the world.
1. Overview
On Friday, February 27, J4CE jointly established by METI, the Ministry of the Environment, and Keidanren held the 21st Public-Private Dialogue and Networking Session, and J4CE participating companies and local governments delivered pitch presentations.
The 21st Public-Private Dialogue and Networking Session was attended by State Minister of the Environment Tsuji, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Komori, and Keidanren Vice Chair and Chair of the Committee on Environment Noda. Mr. Ono Hiroshi, Executive Director of the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), which serves as the J4CE Secretariat, delivered a presentation consisting of an overview of J4CE’s activities to date and announced J4CE 2.0, the future vision for J4CE. Expectations for J4CE's future success were then expressed by State Minister of the Environment Tsuji, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Komori, and Vice-Chair and Chair of the Committee on Environment Noda.
2.J4CE2.0
J4CE2.0 aims to further strengthen communication, particularly overseas, of one of the pillars of J4CE's activities to date: collecting examples of resource circulation initiatives by Japanese companies and disseminating and sharing them both domestically and internationally. We look forward to J4CE 2.0 fostering collaboration among Japanese companies, organizations, local governments, and other stakeholders, thereby driving forward circular economy initiatives both in Japan and globally. 3. Presentation and pitches
In conjunction with the announcement of J4CE 2.0, a presentation was given by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In addition, pitches were delivered by J4CE participating companies and local governments. 4. Future schedule
In addition to collecting examples of resource circulation initiatives, J4CE will continue to share information on circular economy and build networks to accelerate companies' efforts to incorporate resource circulation into their business strategies, while also disseminating circular economy technologies and communicating initiatives of Japanese companies to the world.
