1.AZEC International Conference to Develop Carbon Market
(1) The AZEC International Conference to Develop Carbon Market (AZEC-DCM) was launched in May 2025 as a platform for policymakers’ dialogue to discuss matters specified in the Action Plan for Next Decade adopted at the 2nd AZEC Leaders’ Meeting in October 2024. Specifically, the AZEC-DCM addresses enhancing the competitiveness of industries through the visualization of GHG emissions throughout the supply chain and the promotion of high-integrity carbon markets.
(2) To date, three meetings have been convened, and discussions toward the development of the carbon market have been deepened.
2.Key points of this meeting
(1) Policy officials from the energy and environment ministries of AZEC partner countries, along with representatives of related agencies, participated.(2) In addition to discussions on carbon market development, including the design of carbon pricing policies, the meeting addressed a new theme: climate change adaptation policies to respond to disaster risks and environmental changes caused by climate change. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and partner country governments presented their adaptation efforts, which were followed by information sharing and exchanges of views.
