Meetings with the G7 Members’ Chambers of Commerce in Japan

On the occasion of the G7 Hiroshima Summit, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) established the Meeting with the G7 Members’ Chambers of Commerce in Japan1 for the purpose of strengthening information dissemination on investment policies in Japan and collecting requests from overseas businesses. These meetings are intended to be held several times during a fiscal year.

First session

On May 19, 2023, the METI virtually hosted the first meeting with the G7 Members’ Chambers of Commerce in Japan.
At this online meeting, METI explained to the G7 members’ chambers of commerce the summary of the Action Plan for Attracting Human and Financial Resources from Overseas, which was released by the Cabinet Office's Council for Promotion of Foreign Direct Investment in Japan on April 26, 2023, and responded to their questions and exchanged opinions with them.

Second session

On August 29, 2023, the METI hosted in person the second meeting with the G7 Members’ Chambers of Commerce in Japan. At this meeting, the G7 chambers of commerce and METI discussed approaches to gaining understanding for the needs and expectations of foreign companies in Japan through the G7 chambers of commerce, and facilitated more open and candid exchanges and dialogues between them.

Side Event of the G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Sakai-Osaka: Invest in Osaka (Promoting Foreign Direct Investment from Overseas into Osaka)

The G7 Trade Ministers' Meeting in Sakai-Osaka (held on October 28 and 29, 2023) presented a great opportunity to showcase the attractiveness of Osaka. METI held a meeting titled Invest in Osaka (Promoting Foreign Direct Investment from Overseas into Osaka), which was co-hosted by the Osaka Business and Investment Center.
