On Thursday, April 4, 2024, GENIAC conducted an online event with leading experts in the AI field. The event showcased presentations on large language models (LLMs) by two senior engineers from Google DeepMind. Nearly 60 GENIAC members participated, enhancing their understanding of AI.
Insightful Presentations by Google DeepMind Engineers
The session opened with a detailed presentation on the varying training methods and the historical development of LLMs, sharing foundational construction techniques, insights into Transformer language models, and scaling strategies.
In the second part of the event, another engineer discussed the future prospects of LLMs, ending with encouraging expectations for AI engineers in Japan.

After the presentations, participants split into groups to delve deeper into the topics discussed. The two engineers then answered questions, addressing key issues such as scaling, multimodal capabilities, adapting to multiple languages, and the critical role of input data in the ongoing development of LLMs.
