ASEAN-Japan Business Week 2023

- Toward Innovative and Sustainable Growth -
to be Held in a Physical Format for the First Time
ASEAN-Japan Economic Co-Creation Vision to be Released as Part of the Event, Showing a Future Direction for Economic Co-Creation in a New ASEAN-Japan Era

From June 5 to 9, 2023, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and related organizations in ASEAN and Japan will jointly hold an event titled ASEAN-Japan Business Week 2023. This event will present discussions by representatives of companies, experts and other stakeholders in ASEAN and Japan, release the interim report (version 0.9) of the ASEAN-Japan Economic Co-Creation Vision—which business communities in ASEAN and Japan economies have been formulating to commemorate the 50th year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation—and provide discussions on future co-creation between ASEAN and Japan.

1. Overview

METI and related organizations in ASEAN and Japan economies, in cooperation with industrial players, experts and other stakeholders in a wide variety of fields, will jointly hold an event titled ASEAN-Japan Business Week 2023 - Toward Innovative and Sustainable Growth - as an opportunity for considering the current state and potential of business in ASEAN region, focusing on the key words of innovation and sustainability.

The event, which will be the third of its kind, will release the interim report (version 0.9) of the ASEAN-Japan Economic Co-Creation Vision. This is a compilation that is being formulated to commemorate the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation showing a direction for economic co-creation in a new ASEAN-Japan era with a view to the future of ASEAN and Japan. The event will provide a wide range of discussions by experts from several fields on business opportunities in ASEAN economies and a future direction of ASEAN-Japan economic cooperation, focusing on a variety of subjects related to the four pillars of the vision: [ⅰ] balancing diversity and inclusiveness in sustainable development, [ⅱ] promoting open innovation beyond borders, [ⅲ] strengthening cyber-physical connectivity, and [ⅳ] building an ecosystem in co-creating dynamic human capital.

On the first day (June 5) and the second day (June 6), the ASEAN-Japan Business Week 2023 will be held in a hybrid format before an audience. This is the first time to adopt this format since 2021, the year when the initial event was held.
