The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) appointed Ms. Fujiwara Norika to serve as Honorary Director of the Japanese Government Pavilion (“Japan Pavilion”), which will be exhibited by METI, at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
1. Ms. Fujiwara to serve as the Honorary Director of the Japan Pavilion
As a representative of the Japan Pavilion, Ms. Fujiwara will communicate the attractive features of the pavilion to the world, including at welcoming distinguished guests from Japan and overseas and during the entire period of the exposition.
Profile of Ms. Fujiwara

Ms. Fujiwara was born in Hyogo Prefecture. She won the Grand Prix at the Miss Japan Contest in 1992. After graduating from university, she started a career as a model before becoming an actor. She has starred in various drama series, films, and theater productions, and she has been expanding her range of professional roles to include hosting music programs, acting as a news anchor, and working as a voice actor and a singer.
In addition to her activities in the entertainment industry, she has been proactively engaging in projects that contribute to society, as seen in her appointment as a special publicity envoy for the Japanese Red Cross Society. She is also a leader of a non-profit organization called “Smile Please” under the World Children’s Fund. Through this organization, she has been promoting educational support programs for children in Japan and overseas for over 20 years, including the construction of schools in Afghanistan, Cambodia, and Nepal.
2. Comments from Ms. Fujiwara
My name is Fujiwara Norika. I have been appointed as the Honorary Director of the Japan Pavilion.
As Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, will be the first international exposition to be held in Japan in 20 years, and especially in Osaka, Kansai, I am deeply honored to have been given this duty, as I was born in the Kansai region. I look forward to fulfilling my duty for the benefit of the Kansai region, my birthplace, and Japan. I understand that the Japan Pavilion aims to offer visitors insights that serve as a catalyst for realizing a circular society, under the theme “Between Lives.” I also understand that the pavilion, presented by the Government of Japan as the host country of the exposition, will welcome many visitors from around the world.
As the Honorary Director of the Japan Pavilion, I would like to do my best to communicate the attractive features of the pavilion so that as many people as possible will visit.
