Third Japan-Indonesia Public-Private Economic Dialogue (Track 1.5) Held

On Friday, February 28, 2025, the third meeting of the Japan-Indonesia Public-Private Economic Dialogue (Track 1.5) was held in Jakarta, the Republic of Indonesia, to discuss the promotion of efforts by Japanese and Indonesian public and private sectors in such areas as digital technology, green industry, and human capital development based on the ASIA-Japan Investing for the Future Initiative.
The launch of this dialogue was agreed upon in January 2022 during a meeting held by Mr. Hagiuda Koichi, then-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and H.E. Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs of Indonesia. In the third meeting of the dialogue, Japan and Indonesia discussed how to promote collaboration through specific projects related to important themes within the policies of the Indonesian government, namely the areas of digital technology and promotion of green industry as well as the human capital development that supports those two areas, to work out the specifics of the efforts based on the ASIA-Japan Investing for the Future Initiative, which was announced at the meeting in January 2022.
In addition, the Japanese side made requests related to improving the business environment in Indonesia. The two sides decided to continue to hold discussions among the stakeholders.
Additionally, in light of the details of the discussions, they released a Joint Media Statement on the future directions of Japan-Indonesia collaboration.
Furthermore, they exchanged views on cooperation in the energy area, which the governments of Japan and Indonesia have been advancing under the framework of the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC).
